French Countryside Soiree
As featured in Vogue Australia
COUPLE: Sophie and Harry
LOCATION: Bowral, NSW
Tell me about your The Beginning!
Harry and I were actually in a similar social circles throughout our teens but never really knew each other that well. It wasn't until we properly got to know each other through my best friend Will (who went to school with Harry), whist I was living in Sydney. We hit it off quite fast and never looked back, we are celebrating 10 years together this year!
When and where did you get engaged?
This has felt like the engagement that has never end as we were due to be married February 2021, however I I think its been worth the wait! Harry proposed to me on Christmas morning 2019, at my parents beach house at the Sunshine Coast. A location that has so many incredible memories for us. It was a simple proposal in bed, however Harry took me completely by surprise (and I am rarely lost for words). My engagement ring was wrapped in many boxes, so I assumed it was my Christmas present (also not realizing he was getting down on one knee), and he said 'this present comes with a very special question'. I had never been more shocked in my life, and to this day we still aren't sure if I said yes or not haha. He also designed the ring himself, with no help from anyone - it is the most gorgeous trilogy, I am so in love with it!
What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?
French countryside soiree, however rather than having a clear theme we really want our wedding to scream us as a couple. Even though the venue is a winery/restaurant we are bringing in a lot of styling elements ourselves - glasswear, cutlery, plates, vases etc. It was also important to us to not have any styling elements that would date, keeping it sophisticated and chic.
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
All of it! So excited to see my handsome husband-to-be at the end of the aisle. Also very excited for cocktail hour in the alfresco style courtyard, and being greeted by all of our family and friends for the first time as husband and wife!
Top Tips!
Stay calm, keep everything in perspective, but most importantly enjoy the process! Keep your wedding thoughtful so it reflects you as a couple.
