An Intimate Autumn Wedding

As featured on The Anti-Bride

Couple: Flick and Henry

Ceremony: the Supper Club

Reception: Siglo bar, melbourne

It was an honour to photograph my good friends Flick and Henry’s wedding at Siglo in Melbourne’s CBD. It was the first time being guest as well as the photographer which resulted in my feeling fairly dusty the next day! It was the most perfectly chic night. Scroll down to see more.

Tell me about your The Beginning!

Through friends. Not sure there was a true first date.... lots and lots of hanging out with a group of 4 of us and then we slowly ditched the others so it was just us two. Friends for a while and then eventually we had a kiss on a night out ;)

When and where did you get engaged?

In the middle of the first, long Melbourne lockdown - June 2020. It must have been pre 5-km rule as we went for a walk out around Lilydale area with my family dog, Harley and he organised a picnic lunch. As soon as I realised he was packing a special lunch I knew something was up...

What style/theme have you chosen for your wedding day?

We switched from having a big (well, big for us) wedding of around 120 people to cutting the list in half and having something far more intimate. We just decided this approach was more 'us' and I'm so glad we made that decision even though it was a difficult one because the save the dates for the original big wedding had already gone out (!). We're intending it all to be very relaxed and laid-back, basically just a nice long dinner with our nearest and dearest where we happen to get married at the start.

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Post-ceremony where we can relax and just be in the company of each other and our closest friends and family. I'm 100% certain there will be many tears when I walk down the aisle to the song we have chosen so will be happy to have all that emotion behind me. One great thing I have heard about having a smaller wedding is that you actually get to spend time with each of your guests so I can't wait to do that too.

Any tips for other couples?

When considering budget, decide what is most important to you and where you’re happy to spend versus those elements that perhaps aren’t as important to you where you can save. For us that meant staying at home the night before and the night of and catching Ubers each way!
